Obituary of Elizabeth Blocker

Elizabeth Blocker, 87, of Idabel, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Idabel. She was born September 6, 1923 in Colorado City, TX, the daughter of Vernon Leather” Anderson and Geraldine Elizabeth Rowland Anderson. Elizabeth married the love of her life Ward Blocker on November 27, 1947 in Idabel. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and her and Ward had a wonderful 61 years together. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2008 and she joined him again two years to the day of his passing. She was a graduate of Idabel Gray High School and Oklahoma State University. Elizabeth and Ward lived many years in Stillwater where he was director of fiscal management of the O.S.U. Extension Service. After being gone for several years they moved back home to Idabel in 1978. She enjoyed riding her John Deere mower and took care of her own rather large yard until the age of 86. Elizabeth was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Mary Stewart; and brothers, Charles Anderson and Morris Anderson. Elizabeth is survived by nieces, Frances Gilbert and husband Billy of Winthrop, AR, Suzanne Hurst and husband Chris and Mary Elaine Tulak and husband Joe all of Ormond Beach, FL; nephews, David Blocker of Dayton, OH and Michael Anderson of Idabel; a brother-in-law, Wade Blocker of Albuquerque, NM; many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be on Monday, January 3, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Denison Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in honor of Elizabeth to the Museum of the Red River, 812 East Lincoln Road, Idabel, OK 74745.
