Obituary of Rusty Sullivan

Rusty Sullivan, age 52, of Idabel, OK passed away on Friday. June 28, 2013 at his home. He was born on December 17, 1960 in Idabel, OK. Rusty was a 1979 graduate of Broken Bow High School. He and Tonya Jeffress were married on January 3, 1997 in DeQueen, AR. Rusty went to work for the City of Idabel on January 25, 1982, he began as a fireman but worked the majority of the over 30 years in the Water Department. After transferring to the Water Department he continued to serve as a volunteer fireman until retiring last year. Rusty was a hard worker and loved the men he worked with. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Idabel, OK. Rusty was a devout Christian and loved his Lord. He was avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Rusty was a good friend to many, the kind of friend who was there for you when you needed him. He never met a stranger and genuinely liked talking to people. Rusty was a devoted husband and a wonderful father. He was so proud of his sons accomplishments and if you talked to Rusty it didn't take you long to know that because he was telling you about them. He was preceded in death by his father, Halton Sullivan; mother, Wanda Sullivan Jones; his step-father who raised him, Clarence "Tebo" Jones; brothers, Bobby Sullivan and Don Sullivan; and a sister, Betty Presley. Rusty leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Tonya Sullivan of the home; sons, Dawson Sullivan of the home and Kelly Jeffress of Killeen, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Hal and Margaret Sullivan of Durant, OK; a sister, Carolyn Moyer of Broken Bow, OK; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Toy and Tony Beene of Idabel, OK; aunt and uncle, Larry and Brenda Gibson of Pattonville, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Idabel, OK with Bro. Mahlon Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the funeral home.
