Obituary of Virgil Barber

Virgil Barber, age 71, of Haworth, OK passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Idabel, OK. He was born on August 6, 1941 in Haworth, OK, the son of Robert Nedon Barber and Tennie Thompson Barber. Virgil was a 1960 graduate of Haworth High School. Virgil was retired. He had worked as a logger. Virgil served in the Oklahoma National Guard for 6 years. He enjoyed raising a garden and hunting and fishing when he was able. Virgil was a member of the Church of Christ and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold Barber, Arthur Barber and Ira Barber; a sister, Pearl Barber; a nephew, James Barber; and a niece, Angela Fulfer. Virgil is survived by a daughter, Emma Lou Barber; brother and sister-in-law, James and LaDonna Barber of Tom, OK; sister, Myrtle Young of Haworth, OK; a niece, Joyce Deen; nephews, James Calvin Barber, Stanley Eugene Barber, William Barber, Justin Wilcox and Ronnie Wilcox; several great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK. Interment will follow at the Pollard Cemetery in the Pollard Community, OK with Victor Balagbagan officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the funeral home.
