Obituary of Gary Clampet

Gary Dale Clampet, 59, of Idabel, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at his home. He was born on July 7, 1953 in Hugo, OK, the son of H.D. and Joyce Williamson Clampet. Gary attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and received his Associates Degree in Agriculture. After graduating EOSC he attended Oklahoma State University where he met his former wife LaRae Cross. Once married, he started farming/ranching on the family farm in the bottoms of southeast Oklahoma where he resided most of his life. He was a quiet man of great character who had a sense of humor. If you asked him a question he would give you an honest answer whether you wanted to hear it or not. He was respected by many. In 1989 he worked for Idabel Public Schools as their Heat and Air contractor, while running his business, “Clampet Heat and Air.” He worked for the school until 1999, and then decided to go back to his passion… farming/ranching. Gary enjoyed reading, doing researching on numerous topics, learning to play his guitar, listening to folk music, playing games like chess, checkers and gin rummy and he was very competitive while doing so. He also enjoyed shooting/collecting guns and spending time with family. Gary would do anything for his family, and always put family first. He touched many lives with his warm smile and quiet nature and he will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gary leaves to cherish his memory his daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Steven Clardy of Pittsburg, TX, Ruth and Clint Ebert of Haworth, OK, Carla and Craig Wade of Stonewall, OK and Rachel and Joshua Crocker of Broken Bow, OK; his companion and special friend, Susan Lowrance of Idabel; grandchildren, Alexia Clardy, Cash Clardy, Cason Ebert, Easton Ebert, Ashtyn Wade, Jace Wade, Wyatt Crocker, Ryden Crocker and Emily Crocker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Cindy Clampet of Marietta, OK, Bobby Clampet of Stillwater, OK and Mark and Tammy Clampet of Glennwood, AR; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Sam Cook of Davis, OK, Peggy James of Wilburton, OK and Sally and Robert Walls of Cleveland, OK; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Idabel, OK. Interment will follow at the Marshall Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the funeral home.
