Obituary of Pete Watson

Pete Watson, age 81, of DeQueen, AR and former longtime Idabel resident and businessman passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Little Rock, AR. He was born on October 12, 1931 in Idabel, OK, the son of Harry and Annie Watson. Pete married Mary Helen Parrish in Floydada, TX on December 17, 1950. He and Mary made their home in Idabel and raised 5 children. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2005. Pete later married Ernestine "Ernie" Lacefield and they made their home in DeQueen, AR. He owned and operated several small businesses including Mistletoe Express Freight, Pete Watson Used Cars as well as a real estate business. Pete enjoyed traveling and in the last few years he and Ernie went to Hawaii, Redwood Forest and Florida among other places. Pete loved his pets including his two favorite dogs, Sparky and Rudy. He was a member of the Idabel First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and his sister, Lorraine Barrett. Pete is survived by his wife, Ernestine "Ernie" Watson of DeQueen, AR; his daughters and son-in-law, Margie and Randy Tucker of Flower Mound, TX, Alice and Phil Woodrum, Sue and Danny Turnage and Tami and Gary Robbins all of Idabel; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Watson of Poteau, OK; step-daughter, Donna Sweeten and husband, Thomas of DeQueen, AR; sister and brother-in-law, Belle And Russell Bennett of Roswell, NM and Lucine Jones of Tyler, TX; a special nephew, Vern Burleson of Horatio, AR; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Rev. Oscar Wilkie and Rev. David Mercer officiating. Interment will follow at Denison Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the ARK of McCurtain County, P.O. Box 1023 Broken Bow, OK 74728, Idabel First United Methodist Church, 302 S.E. Jefferson Idabel, OK 74745 or a charity of your choice.
