Obituary of Charles Roy Harley

Charles Roy "Charlie" Harley, 84, of Idabel, OK, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 8, 1929, in Idabel, OK. Charlie married Effielene Williston in Idabel, OK on May 8, 1952. Charlie worked at Red River Army Depot for many years before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and working in his shop. Charlie was a huge fan of WWF Raw and his family knew that's what he would be watching on Monday night's. Charlie was a member of the Bokchito Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW. He loved getting together with family and friends and never met a stranger. Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Leo Harley and Lena Battice; daughters, Charlene Harley and Cynthia Harley; grandson, Kirby Harley; brother, Leo Harley Jr.; and sisters, Ruby Washington and Lina Ebahotubbi. Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Effielene of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Una Harley, Jeffrey Harley, and Johnny Harley, all of Idabel, and Billy and Pheobe Harley of Broken Bow; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and David Wesley of Idabel, and Sandra and Gilbert Harris, all of Idabel; brothers, Alfred Harley of Wilburton, OK, Virgil Harley of DeQueen, AR, and Everett Harley of Idabel; sisters, Ruthie Mae Williston and Amelia James, both of Idabel, and Faye Stehle of Ft. Worth, TX; granddaughters, Cheryl Williams of Idabel, OK and Julie Harley of Oklahoma City whom Charlie raised as his own; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Bro. Edgel Samuels and Bro. Alfred Harley Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Denison Cemetery. A wake service will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the funeral home.
