Obituary of James Friend

James Friend, age 88, of Haworth, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Idabel, OK. He was born on March 11, 1924 in Arkinda, Arkansas, the son of Abner Dewey and Lucy Dollar Friend. James was a retired sawmill worker. He loved gardening and fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County and affiliated with the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Friend; brothers, Harvey Friend and Wilburn Friend; sisters, Etta Mae Friend, Lola Mae Friend, Lottie Friend, Bernice Friend, and Flora Mae Pond. James leaves to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law, James and Geneva Friend of the Union Grove Community and Jim and Jackie Friend of Maude, TX; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Friend and Charles Mussett, and Mary Sue Hamm, all of Idabel; step-son, Thane Watson of Haworth; step-daughters, Althea Ramsey of Holly Creek and Carolyn Little of Doddridge, AR; brother and sister-in-law, A. D. and Lois Friend of America; sister, Sandra Ann Misner of Moon; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; special friend and caregiver, Teresa Hankins; and a host of friends. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the White Family Chapel Rev. Robert Dodds and Bro. Calvin Friend officiating. Interment will follow at the Tom Cemetery.
