Obituary of Marion Hefner Phillips

Marion Hefner Phillips passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the age of 81. She was born on August 27, 1931, the daughter of Robert Daniel and Lottie Houston outside of Idabel at her grandparents’ home. She was a social worker for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services for over 25 years. Marion was the first Duchess of McCurtain County. She loved her family more than anything and they were the light of her life. She also loved her church family. Her greatest joys were singing and Bible study. Marion was a member of the Foreman church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas F. Hefner; son, Nathan Hefner; daughters, Deborah Whitten and Delight Edison; and a granddaughter, Chardon White. Marion is survived by son, Walter Hefner and wife, Tracy, of Foreman, AR; daughters, Charmyrle Whitten Burns and husband, Wendell, of Hot Springs, AR and Darlene Hefner Timbes and husband, Lewis, of Broken Bow; her nine grand-children and twelve great-grand-children who were such a blessing to her, the grandchildren include Alicia Sipes, Riley Eidson, and Jordan Oxford, all of Idabel, Brian Stevenson and Lindsey Timbes, both of Broken Bow, Jennifer Nicholson of Athens, TX, Christopher Hefner of Conway, AR, and Haley Hefner and Lauren Hefner of Foreman, AR; brothers, Phil Houston of Idabel and Gordon Houston of Claremore, OK; sister, Joan Venable of Weatherford, TX; and many other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Foreman Church of Christ with Billy Blakeney officiating. Interment will follow at Dollarhide Cemetery in Foreman, AR. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the White Family Funeral Home in Idabel, OK.
