Obituary of Evelyn Malone

On Friday, December 28, 2012, God took a beautiful lady home to be with him. Evelyn Malone, age 93, of Idabel, OK was born to Thomas J. and Mattie L. Hadley in West Line, AR on April 9, 1919. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1936, where she met Othal Petre. They were married at the First Baptist Church in Idabel, OK on December 22, 1940. The couple had two children, Gaye and Bob. After Othal's death in 1946, Evelyn and the children moved to Idabel to be with her parents. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idabel. In 1948, Evelyn met John C. Malone, and on February 12, 1949, they were married. Together they enjoyed a long, happy, and adventurous marriage until his death in 1998. Evelyn enjoyed family and held the family bond close to her heart. She was a very good cook and liked to have family and friends around her. Evelyn was a energetic and resourceful mother and businesswoman. She was the owner and operator of Hadley Monument Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, T.J. and Mattie Hadley; her husbands, Othal Petre and Johnnie Malone; brothers and sisters-in-law Norvin and Edna Hadley and Rudolph and Virginia Hadley; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Roy Rowland; in-laws, Ona and Jack Petre, Sula Reese and Dan L. Malone; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lester and Bonnie Malone, James T. Reese, Mattie Dunn and Effie White; nephews, Mike Hadley and Norvin Wendell Hadley; niece; Guy Eula Poole; and many other members of both her and her husband's families. Evelyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Judy Petre of Idabel; daughter, Gaye Duncan of Little Rock, AR; granddaughter, Kara Kearns of Edmond, OK, Robyn Madden of Little Rock, AR and Reagan Duncan of Oakland, CA; great-granddaughter, Kathryn Kearns; great-grandsons, Dylan Madden and Duncan Madden; sister-in-law, Jane Ross of Broken Bow; brother-in-law, Joe Reese of Summerfield, FL; thirteen nephews; four nieces; and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Idabel, OK. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery in Idabel, OK with Rev. David Mercer and Rev. Morgan Malone officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the White Family Funeral Home in Idabel, OK.
