Obituary of Margaret Timmons

Margaret Bernice Moore Timmons, long-time McCurtain County resident, went to her heavenly home on September 12, 2012. She was born on June 21, 1933 at Lubbock, TX, the daughter of William Porter Moore and Addie Beatrice Walls Moore. She married Herbert Osley Timmons on June 22, 1949. They lived on a peanut farm at Bennington. Their daughter, Loyetta, was born a year later. Their son, George William, was born in 1952. They moved to Wright City where Herb worked for Dierks Lumber Mill until 1960. Son, Charles Allen, was born in 1958. In the summer of 1960, they purchased a home north of Millerton. Herb bought the Millerton Grocery from his father later that year and the two operated it until 1969. Herb and Margaret became growers for Lane Poultry and later for Tyson Foods. Herb passed away in 1988. Margaret was instrumental in developing the Truth Tabernacle Church in Idabel. She was past treasurer for the Wheelock Cemetery Association, former member of the McCurtain County Home Extension organization, and served on the Election Board. She was an avid gardener and seamstress but may be best known for her pies, cakes, and quilts. She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, husband and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Loyetta and Charles Davis; sons and daughters-in-law, G.W. and Linda Timmons and Allen and Julia Timmons; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Truth Tabernacle Church with Bro. Johnny Cheek officiating. Interment will follow in the Wheelock Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, at the funeral home.
