Obituary of June Jackman

June Jackman, 79, of Idabel, Oklahoma, went to her heavenly home on Friday, August 24, 2012. She was born in Boswell, Oklahoma, to Ray and Lorene Wickersham on June 21, 1933. She was united in marriage to Dayton Clark Jackman on August 31, 1950. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. The longtime Idabel businesswoman owned and operated June’s Furniture and Appliances with her husband for 42 years. Not only did they build a successful business, but they developed meaningful relationships with many of their clients. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Women of Worship, Idabel Chamber of Commerce, Idabel Country Club Ladies Association, and Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, as well as a 50 year member of Eastern Star. She loved golfing and enjoyed playing and competing with her many friends. She loved spending time with her family and friends and selflessly gave her time for the benefit of others. June’s optimistic demeanor, giving heart, and infectious charm have been a source of inspiration for many. Her vivacious personality and love for life were evident in her daily interactions. June’s ever-present faith was a living example for others. She loved teaching her grandchildren how to cook and liked to entertain and welcome guests to her home for dinners and parties. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a hidden talent for gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her siblings, J.L. Wickersham, C.R. Wickersham and Nell Maxwell. June leaves to cherish her memory her son, Terry Clark Jackman and wife Cindy of Wright City, OK; daughter, Gayna Carter and husband Scott of Tulsa, OK; and son, Michael Doyle Jackman of Idabel; sisters LaVerne McCain, of Idabel, OK and Goldie Jewell, of Vancouver, WA; brother, Dewey Wickersham, of Hugo, OK; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Idabel, OK. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012 at the White Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of June can be made to the First Baptist Church Kitchen Fund, 2 S.E. Jefferson, Idabel, OK 74745.
