Obituary of Doris Lightsey

Doris Carrie Lightsey, age 87, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 in Idabel, Oklahoma. She was born on March 7, 1925 in the Redland Community, OK, the daughter of Frazier and Myrtle Dillard. Doris worked for many years at Norris Department Store in Idabel and was known for her friendliness and was beloved by her customers. She was an accomplished homemaker and enjoyed quilting and sharing her homemade bread and recipes with friends. Doris loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hayes Lightsey; a daughter, Connie Joyce Flanagan; a sister, Iris Balagbagan; a brother, Billy Don Dillard; and a great-grandson, Kai Flanagan. Doris is survived by her daughter, Debbie and husband, Keith Sims of Nashville, AR; sons, Terry Lightsey and wife, Cathy of Idabel, OK and Tony Lightsey and wife, Marcia of Broken Arrow, OK; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Victor Balagbagan officiating. Interment will follow at the Redland Cemetery in the Redland Community, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Harbor Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1047, Claremore, OK 74018.
