Obituary of Ona Taylor Smith

Ona Taylor Smith, age 98, of Idabel passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Idabel. She was born on January 9, 1914 in Titus County, TX, the daughter of Dalton and Josie Byrd Williams. She was a L.P.N. and worked for several years at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Idabel, OK. Ona loved gardening and taking care of her chickens. She was affiliated with the Assemblies of God Church and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. Ona was a devoted mother and grandmother. Once she had her daughter Kittie she became the center point of Ona's life. Then came the grandchildren and she loved spending time with them and spoiling them. Her family was her greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Fred Rodgers and Fred Taylor; brothers, Ike, Will, Bud, Travis and Preach Williams; sisters, Pearl Frey and Eloise Pilgrim. Ona is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kittie and Terry Williston of Idabel; granddaughter, Stacy Balthrop and husband, Chris of Ada, OK; grandson, Clint Howard and wife, Kara of Tulsa, OK; great-grandchildren, Clay Balthrop, Caden Balthrop, Kinley Howard and Campbell Howard; sisters, Bonnie Motley of Omaha, TX and Dollie Fitch of Dallas, TX; a sister-in-law, Joyce Williams of Omaha, TX; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Bro. Moses Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Canfield Cemetery in Idabel, OK.
