Obituary of Mae Manuel

Mae Manuel, age 95 of Idabel went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Idabel. She was born on July 20, 1916 near Booneville in Prentiss County, MS, the daughter of William Gordon and Samantha Louise Waddle Livingston. Mae married Roy Claiborne Manuel on April 17, 1937 in Booneville, MS. She and Roy moved with 6 of their 7 children to the Iron Stob Community in McCurtain County, OK in December of 1961, moving from near Luxora, AR. After retiring from farming they moved to Idabel where Mae took a job at Tootie’s Café. She later worked in housekeeping at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. Mae enjoyed dancing, eating out and attending functions at the VFW where she was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Cora Whitley, Hester Huddleston and Ida Shamblin; a brother, Leander Livingston; a grandson, Steve Robinson; a great-granddaughter, Brandy Robinson; and a great-grandson, Zackery Manuel. Mae leaves to cherish her memory her sons and daughters-in-law, Clay and Bobbye Manuel of Memphis, TN, Wayne and Helga Manuel of Augusta, GA, George Manuel, Billy and Heather Manuel and John and Charlotte Manuel all of Idabel, Jerry Manuel of Velva, ND and Danny Manuel of Ft. Smith, AR; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Eva Vaughn of Booneville, MS; several additional nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel with Bro. Robert Castle and Bro. Gabe Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in Redland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the funeral home.
