Obituary of William Durant

William Durant Sr., age 82, of the Holly Creek Community, OK passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 30, 1930 in Millerton, OK, the son of Eddie Durant and Minnie Wesley Durant. William was a true cowboy and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed rodeo, riding and training horses, hunting, fishing and gardening. He worked as building contractor for many years, working for the U.S. Government, Public Schools and the Choctaw Nation as well as others. William was a talented carpenter and helped to build many of the buildings we have today. William was a loving father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Laura Durant; and sisters, Francille Durant, Laura Durant and Rosie Tidwell. William is survived by his sons, William “Bo” Durant Jr. of the Hollycreek Community and Paul Reynolds of Idabel; daughters and son-in-law, Judy and Doug Bain of Broken Bow and Angela Smith of Del City, OK; brother, Cecil Durant of Idabel; sisters, Bonnie Hughes of Millerton, OK and Dorothy Louise Powell of the Hollycreek Community; grandchildren, Chad Butler, Shane Durant, Jody Butler, J.P. Durant, Pajee Eeds and Eddy “Bubba” Durant; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
