Obituary of Lillie Hill

Lillie W. Hill passed from this life and entered into her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the age of 95. She was born on July 9, 1916 in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, the daughter of James W. and Lillie Isabelle McBrayer. At the age of six, Lillie moved with her family to Haworth, OK. They traveled by train to their new home. Lillie was a 1937 graduate of Haworth High School. After graduating she remained at home for a short time. Her uncle, Dr. W.H. McBrayer learned that Lillie wanted to attend college but due to a lack of finances was unable to. Dr. McBrayer was very instrumental in getting her enrolled at Wilburton JR College. She spent two years there before completing her degree at Southeastern in Durant, OK. Lillie became a School Teacher and she truly loved teaching. She taught for over 40 years in McCurtain County School systems. Lillie felt her purpose in life was to prepare her students for a productive life. Lillie became a member of the Haworth Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She remained very active in her Church until her declining health no longer permitted. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Hulit Hill in 1996; and all of her brothers and sisters. Lillie is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2012 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Bro. Richard Sullivant officiating. Interment will follow at Denison Cemetery in Idabel, OK.
