Obituary of Joe Hackney

Joe Hackney, 72, of Idabel, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, February 9, 2007 at Idabel, OK. He was born October 5, 1934 the son of Jessie James and Lora Ann Horton Hackney. Coming from Arkansas, Joe moved to Idabel at the age of 16 years. Joe loved the people of Idabel and considered everyone he met to be a friend. He would always greet them with a handshake and a smile. Tending lawns for many residents and businesses in Idabel, Joe made friends daily. He was a hard worker and will be greatly missed by many. He was a devout Christian and enjoyed visiting all churches. Joe often quoted the Bible and would remind his friends, “The Bible says you are supposed to help one another.” He would ask people when it would rain, “You know who did that, don’t ya?” Joe knew God and knew by believing in Him, he would make it to Heaven. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Hackney; sister, Lillian Beard; 2 brothers, Charlie Hackney and Marvin Hackney. He is survived by his sister, Mary Draper of Oklahoma City; brother, Henry Hackney of Oklahoma City; nephews, Ed Creech Jr., Ray Churchwell, Billy King, Marvin Hackney Jr., James Hackney, Jessie James Hackney; nieces, Sue Brown, Jewel Clough, Mary Donison, Judy Hackney, Lawanda Greyson, Linda Jane Campbell, Teresa Hackney, Betty Dunigan, Nancy Hackney, Stacy Hackney, Cindy, Joy, numerous other relatives, and many, many friends.
