Obituary of Yates Davis

Wilford Yates Davis, age 67 passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 at his home in Haworth, OK. He was born on February 15, 1945 in Tom, OK, the son of Lake Erie Davis and Mossey Posey Davis. He served in the OK and CA National Guard for 7 years. Yates was a truck driver until his health failed. He had also worked in law enforcement, working for the McCurtain County Sheriff’s Dept., Idabel Police Dept., Broken Bow Police Dept. and the Haworth Police Dept. Yates was an extremely hard worker and enjoyed riding his lawnmower, gardening and horses. He was an avid CB radio operator on which he was known as “6 Banger”. Yates was a member of the Haworth Assembly of God Church and was a lifetime McCurtain County resident. Yates was a loving, husband, father, grandfather and truly loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Michael Shawn Carrell; his brother, Mack Davis; and sisters, Louise Voss, Exie Murray, Nola Ridge, Elgie Lee Vaught and Ruby Jean Matthews. Yates is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Tammy Davis, Richard Davis and Robert Davis all of Haworth, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Michael Carrell of Haworth; grandchildren, Brandy Rasberry and Billy, Bradley Ferrel all of Haworth, OK and Alvin Davis of Durant, OK; great-grandchildren, Echo Nicole Davis and Connor Joe Lancour; a sister, Betty Sue Hopkins of Palmdale, CA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Haworth Assembly of God Church in Haworth, OK with Bro. Jason Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Haworth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the funeral home.
