Obituary of Cleatus Pollard

Cleatus Pollard, age 85, of the Marshall Hill Community passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 at Idabel. He was born October 15, 1926 in the Pollard Community. Cleatus married Bennie Lou Rogers on July 24, 1951 in Lovington, NM. Cleatus was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII. As a young man he worked in the oil fields including 7 years in Argentina where he became fluent in Spanish. He always wanted to return to McCurtain County to ranch and for the last 45 years he spent most of his time working his ranch in the Marshall Hill Community. Cleatus loved working with his grandchildren putting up hay and also spending time with close friends who shared his enthusiasm for the cattle business. He mostly worked but he did enjoy fishing and playing golf a sport he picked up only a few years ago. Cleatus was a member of the Lynn Lane Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Thearon Pollard Sr.; mother, Clarice Parker; step-father, Harvey Parker; granddaughter, Kaci Pollard; brothers, Thearon Pollard Jr. and Billy Carroll Parker; and a grandson-in-law, Chad Dawson. Cleatus is survived by his wife, Bennie of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Wayne Pond of Idabel; son and daughter-in-law, Richy and Liz Pollard of the Marshall Hill Community; grandchildren, Lloyd Pond, Russell Pollard, Laura Fennell, Jeff Fisher, Angie Mullens, Michael Fisher and Katie Fisher; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Lynn Lane Church of Christ in Idabel. Interment will follow at Marshall Hill Cemetery in the Marshall Hill Community, OK with Aubrey Thompson and Richy Pollard officiating.
