Obituary of Sherman S. Davis

Sherman S. Davis, age 85, of the Redland Community, OK passed away at Plano, TX on Monday January 23, 2012. He was born on November 23, 1926 in Jadie, OK, the son of William Elder Davis and Manda Arbelle Baxter Davis. Sherman married Evelean Shelton in Horatio, AR on October 25, 1947. Sherman was a member of the Redland Church of God and was the Pastor of the Church for over 20 years. He was dedicated to his faith and was a fine husband, father and PaPaw. Sherman enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising his cattle. He was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Levi Davis, Melvin Davis and Sid Davis. Sherman is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelean Davis of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Monte and Nichia Davis of Horatio, AR; daughters and son-in-law, Martha and Paul Jeanes of the Redland Community, Rita Killian and friend, Carl Daily of Cerro Gordo, OK; sisters, Myrtle Hopper of Mena, AR and Lessie Brinkley of the Redland Community; grandchildren, Serena Mantz, Jacob Davis, Chris Davis, Dalton Davis, Talley Jeanes, Calob Davis, Kaedon Davis, Glen Jeanes, Joshua Jeanes, Zachary Pierce, Candy Vandiver, April McGaha, Landon Middleton, Lacey Middleton and Layna Middleton; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Philadelphia Cemetery with Pastor Landon Middleton officiating. Interment will follow.
