Obituary of Anna Griggs

Anna Jo Ellis Griggs went to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 21, 2012. She was born August 28, 1933 to Clayton and Ruth Bush Ellis of Hugo, OK. Anna married W.F. Griggs in Hugo, OK on July 3, 1954. Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, W.F., her parents, and her brother, Jimmie Ellis. Anna began her banking career at the First State Bank, Idabel, in 1958, where she worked for 25 years. She then went to the American State Bank, Broken Bow, for 15 years where she was Sr. Vice-President and served on the Board of Directors until her retirement in 1996. Anna loved banking, she considered her co-worker as family and her many customers as dear friends. Anna was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Idabel, and the Adult II Sunday School Class. She was a past member of the Idabel and Broken Bow Chambers of Commerce, ICC Ladies Association, Epsilon Psi Sorority, WMU, and the Idabel Industrial Authority. She was an avid golfer, loved to play the piano and sing, and was a loyal “Wheel” watcher. Anna is survived by her two daughters, Andrea Griggs and husband, John Burwell, of Harrah, OK and Carol Gillham and husband, Bob, of Broken Bow; four grandchildren, LeaAnn Campbell and husband, John Lowery, of Dallas, TX, Ryan Gillham of Broken Bow and his fiancé, Shiane Shelton, Morgan Prim, Rachel Hays and husband, Dan, all of Oklahoma City, OK; four great-grandchildren, Macy and Kellen Hays of Oklahoma City, OK and Catherine Campbell and Anna Carrington Lowery of Dallas, TX; a sister, Mary Feco and husband, Andy, of Hugo, OK; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Idabel. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery with Bro. Blake Gideon and Bro. Shawn Robertson officiating.
