Obituary of Fern Clay

Janie Fern Clay went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the age of 94 plus years. She was born on July 21, 1917 in Booneville, AR, the daughter of James and Callie Garner. The oldest of seven children, she was the last to go. She moved to Pickens, OK in 1936 remaining there until 1954 when they moved to Broken Bow. She had been a member of the First Assembly of God since 1954, faithful until ill health kept her from attending. Serving her Lord was very important to her, loving her family and loving to work. Everything concerning her home, garden and outside work she embraced, she never seemed to tire. She was a perfectionist and very particular. She was preceded in death 24 years ago by her husband, O. J. Clay, of 54 years and grandchildren, Marty Meadows, Mary Ann Davis and Crystal Gibson. Fern is survived by her daughters, Merry Branson and husband, Charlie, Betty Gibson and husband, Jerry; son, Jim Clay and wife, Karen; grandchildren, James Meadows and wife, Debbie, Joe Meadows, Rhonda Moore and husband, Albert, Greg Gibson and wife, Shannon, Kyle Clay and wife, Sara, and Lindy Clay; eleven great-grandchildren, Phillip Meadows, Josh Meadows and wife, Meagan, James Dean Meadows, Mandi Meadows, Courtney Payne and husband, Jeremy, Clayton Foster and wife, Krystal, Callie Dugger and husband, Anthony, Caleb Foster, Jesse Hurd, Abbi Gibson, and Kasen Clay with twin sisters soon to arrive; six great-great-grandchildren, Emma Payne, Audri Payne and Jeremiah Payne, Kynlee Dugger, Linkin Foster and ReAnn Meadows; sisters-in-law, Charlene Miller and Betty Garner; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the First Assembly of God in Broken Bow with Bro. Terry Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at the Broken Bow Cemetery. Ms. Clay will lay in state at the First Assembly of God in Broken Bow on Saturday, January 21, from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
