Obituary of Geraldine F. Wilson

Geraldine “Gerry” F. Wilson, age 86 passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Valliant. She was born on November 10, 1925 in Idabel, OK, the daughter of Henry N. Fuller Sr. and Nora Gentry Fuller. Geraldine married Bruce Wilson in September of 1944 in Camden, AR. Gerry began teaching school at Tom High School in Tom, OK during WWII at the age of 18. She taught first through eighth grade for many years at Thomas Chapel in what was Oklahoma’s last one room school. Gerry began teaching math at Haworth Jr. High in 1965and finished her teaching career at Idabel Public Schools when she retired in the late 1980’s. After retiring Gerry was very active in the Pollard Missionary Baptist Church of which she was a longtime member. Gerry volunteered at the library, working in the genealogy department. She was a member of the McCurtain County Retired Educators Association, the Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma. Gerry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Frank Wilson; sisters, Evelyn Chapman and Nita Ellis; brothers, Robert Fuller, Rufus Fuller and Henry Fuller Jr. Gerry leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Bruce Wilson of Valliant; a daughter, Susan Wilson McCarley of Irving, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Noemi Wilson of Valliant; grandchildren and spouses, Eric and Betty Wilson, Jason and Susan Wilson, Robin Hooper, Peter Jr. and Kelli Wilson and Erin and Zack Clifton; great-grandchildren, Journey Wilson, Archer Wilson, Tara and Shawn Williams, Tesa Hooper, Mia Grace Wilson and Autumn Faith Clifton; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends as well as former students. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2011 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Pollard Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Cowert and Bro. Glenn Self officiating. A family member, W.O. “Dub” Mowery, will share some personal and family thoughts and endearments. Interment will follow in the Pollard Cemetery.
