Obituary of Corlis V. Gilbert

Corlis V. Gilbert, age 85, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011 in Clarksville, TX. He was born on June 16, 1926 in Golden, OK, the son of Tom and Candace Milligan Gilbert. Corlis married Wilma Coleman on January 9, 1948 in DeQueen, AR. Corlis was retired. He had worked as a truck driver in pipeline construction. He enjoyed raising his cattle and visiting with family and friends. Corlis was affiliated with the First Christian Church and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. Corlis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary W. Gilbert; brothers, Roscoe Gilbert and Kenneth E.W. Gilbert; and a sister, Mary Taylor. Corlis leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 64 years, Wilma Gilbert of Idabel; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Flenoia Bonner of Idabel; son, Michael Gilbert of Idabel; grandchildren, Chad and Shawna Gilbert of Royal, AR, Candace and Brian Cannon of Paris, TX, Amanda Bonner of Tulsa, OK, Brandon Gilbert of Eagletown and Shannon and Ryan Hesterlee of Golden, OK; great-grandchildren, Blake Gilbert, Ryder Hesterlee and Roper Hesterlee; a sister, Verna Pauline Bacorn of California; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
