Obituary of Sterling Farley

Sterling Stamper Farley, age 80, of Idabel passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011. He was born on December 31, 1930 in the Shoults Community. Sterling married Betty Jean John on December 15, 1979 in Idabel, Oklahoma. Sterling was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was a retired carpenter and also worked as a security officer for the Choctaw Nation. Sterling enjoyed gardening and reading. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Sterling was affiliated with the Kulli Tuklo Methodist Church and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Luther Farley, Oren Farley, Benson Farley, Herald Farley and Debs Farley; and a sister, Opal Williams. Sterling leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Betty Farley of Idabel; sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Sherri Farley of Broken Bow, Roy and Brenda Farley of the Forest Grove Community, Roger and Cynthia Farley of Piedmont, OK, and Allen and Tracy Farley of Russellville, AR; step-children, Carolyn and Don Carter of Piedmont, OK and Randy Kupiec of Garland, TX; brothers, Austin Farley and Duard Farley; sisters, Sybil Williams and Charlotte Heuring; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the White Family Chapel with Rev. Rosa Baker and Rev. Gabriel Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in the Veteran’s section of Denison Cemetery. A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the funeral home.
