Obituary of Herman Lee Black

Herman Lee Black left this earthly world to join our precious Lord and Savior at the age of 75 on October 2, 2011 at his home near Broken Bow. He was born on May 8, 1936 in Wright City, OK, the son of Ernest D. and Eva Lena Walls Black. Herman met and married Linda Phillips of the Mt. Herman Community and they had three sons, Herman Jr., Eugene and Chris. Herman worked as a logger for most of his life. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Herman was of the Nazarene Faith and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dicey Lawhon and Velma Walkup; brothers, Delbert Black, Andrew Black, Ray Black and Roy Black; and a niece, Janie Lawhon. Herman is survived by his sons, Herman Lee Black Jr., Eugene Black and Chris Black; 2 grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Burns of Tyler, TX and Mary Hudson of Broken Bow; a nephew, Larry Black; nieces, Pam, Sheila and Jeanie; sisters-in-law, Bobbie J. Black and Rose Votaw; and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the White Family Chapel in Idabel with Bro. Steve Walls officiating. Interment will follow in the Valliant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the funeral home.
