Obituary of Wilburn Friend

Wilburn Friend, age 78, of the Moon Community, OK passed away at Tulsa, OK on Friday, September 9, 2011. He was born on June 9, 1933 in Arkinda, AR, the son of Dewey and Lucy Dollar Friend. He married Juanita Smithson in Haworth, OK on August 24, 1957. He worked in several area sawmills. Wilburn worked 20 years for Tyson Foods before retiring. He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and take care of his chickens. Wilburn was a member of the Moon Church of God and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. Wilburn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters and 1 brother. Wilburn leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Juanita Friend of the Moon Community; son and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Stephanie Friend of the Moon Community; daughters and son-in-law, Pam Baker of the Moon Community and Glenda and Buddy Hunsucker of Idabel; brothers and sister-in-law, James Friend of the Bokhoma Community and A. D. and Lois Friend of the America Community; a sister, Sandra Misener of the Moon Community; grandchildren, Brandon Taylor, Nicholas and Miranda Taylor, Justin and Taylor Friend, Heather and Johnny Hawthorne, Shawn Dodds, Kyle Friend and Kristen Friend; great-grandchildren, Rylee Taylor and Peyton Friend; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Haworth First Assembly of God Church in Haworth, OK with Bro. Lonnie McKenzie and Bro. Ed Clark officiating. Interment will follow at the Tom Cemetery.
