Obituary of Erwin Underwood

Erwin Underwood, age 67 of the Holly Creek Community passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011. He was born on January 30, 1944 in Greensboro, NC, the son of J. D. and Dorothy Peeler Underwood. He married Nina Compton on Dec. 5, 1987 in Dallas, TX. Erwin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Underwood’s Safe and Vault for 31 years. He was a rock hound and enjoyed fishing. He was an avid gardener and loved growing muscadine grapes and blackberries Erwin was a member of the Methodist Church and had lived in the Holly Creek community since 1999 moving from Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents. Erwin leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Nina Underwood of the Holly Creek Community; sons, Erwin Underwood Jr. of North Carolina and James Underwood of the Holly Creek Community; grandsons, Derek Underwood, Justin Underwood, and Jordan Underwood, all of North Carolina; brothers, Joe Law of North Carolina and Steve Law of Massachusetts; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and David Kirkman, JoAnn and Larry O’Barr all of North Carolina and Susan and Jerry Wilhonen of Washington; several nephews, nieces, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the White Family Chapel with Greg Camp officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery.
