Obituary of Ruby Bonner

Ruby Jewell Bonner, 88, Idabel, OK passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, August 5, 2011. Ruby had resided at Mustang Creek Estates in Allen, TX, for the past 2 years, to be near her family. Born June 25, 1923 in Montgomery, AL, Ruby Jewell Davis met Delma Bonner during WWII, and married shortly thereafter in 1943. After Delma was honorably discharged from the Army, they moved to Idabel in 1951. Ruby was secretary to both Frank and James Wooten at the 1st State Bank of Idabel for many, many years. Ruby served the community by volunteering as a Pink Lady at the hospital, teaching adults to read, and acting as both Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and Leader for the Brownies and Girl Scouts. Ruby was devoted to the First Methodist Church of Idabel serving on the Board of Directors. She coordinated bereavement dinners and was an active member of the Mary Martha Circle. But she was best known for playing the piano for the Men's Sunday School Class. And her delicious homemade dinner rolls! Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Delma J Bonner; her parents, Arthur & Fannie Davis, Boaz, AL; in-laws, Charlie & Mamie Bonner, Idabel, OK; brothers Furman & Leecie Davis, Montgomery, AL; and Wilson & Louise Davis, Boaz, AL; brothers & sisters-in-law, Dan & Pat Bonner, El Paso, TX; JC & Mildred (Bonner) Harvey, Idabel, OK; and Bill & Irene (Bonner) Allen, Oklahoma City, OK. Her surviving family includes her children, Alan & Jennifer Bonner, Stillwater, OK and Lee & Karen Bonner, Wylie, TX and Cheryl & husband, Denny Long, Fairview, TX. Grandchildren include Kelly & husband, Major Sam Little, Merritt Island, FL; Megan & husband Matt Schrecengost, Chicago, IL; BethAnn Bonner, New York City, NY; Melissa & husband David Reichert, Garland, TX; Lonnie Chandler, Wylie, TX; 6 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Edna (Davis) & husband, Joe Missildine, Austin, TX; sister-in-Law, Mildred Harvey, Idabel, OK; nieces Dana Dirato, Stillwater, OK; Brenda Rohm, Montgomery, AL; Rita Dean, Montgomery, AL; nephews Jerry Missildine, Richardson, TX; Ronnie Missildine, Simi Valley, CA; Tommy Missildine, Enterprise, AL; and John Davis, Gainsville, GA. Family visitation is Friday, August 12, 6p to 8p at White Family Funeral Home, Idabel. Service is Saturday, August 13, 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Idabel. Due to extreme temperatures, there will be no graveside service. Please make any memorial contributions in Ruby's name to the First United Methodist Church of Idabel.
