Obituary of Ronald Slatten

Ronald Slatten, age 71, known to his friends as Lefty went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Idabel after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Washita County, OK on October 20, 1939. Lefty attended Goodnews Fellowship Church in Broken Bow. He owned and operated a lawn care service in Broken Bow in which he had affordable rates for the elderly. He was even known to get milk for a few clients in the middle of the night. Lefty loved helping others, not to mention the home cooked meals he got in return. He kept his best friend, Nell Vaughn’s lawn mowed, kept her stocked with firewood and checked on her while her daughter was off working. Even though Lefty was partially paralyzed on one side, he never let it slow him down. He inspired many by finding a way to get the job done. He loved to fish and every chance he got he was at the lake. Even though Donna Pryor, Dennis Klaus or Nell Vaughn had to bait his hook, he always helped to reel it in. As much as he loved fishing, he was never about to get in a boat! Lefty will truly be missed by all who knew him, it’s not about how you lived in the past, it’s how you end up that counts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Faye Anderson in 1966; and daughters, Georgerita Anderson and Tammy Fullwider. Lefty is survived by sons, Ronald Keith Anderson II and wife Kathy of Canyon, TX and Michael Lynn Anderson and wife Susan of Eagle Grove, IA; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel with Bro. Troy Ruffin officiating.
