Obituary of Aurelia Ann Doan

Aurelia Ann Doan went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 18th in her home at Pollard. She was born to Lena and Andrew Fuller of Pollard on September 25, 1932. She was a 1950 graduate of Haworth High School. Aurelia married Coy R. Doan on August 21, 1951 at Pollard Baptist Church and they enjoyed 32 years wonderful years together. She graduated from Southeastern Okla. State University in 1971 with a BA degree in Art Education. She taught at Haworth School six years and Wright City School sixteen years. Then after retiring she taught Art at Idabel High School for two and half years when she was 70 years of age. It was often mentioned by friends and family that their most fun and enjoyable times were spent at Mr. and Mrs. Doan’s house. One of mother’s favorite sayings was “the more the merrier”. Aurelia dearly loved and adored her children, grandchildren and family. Friends were considered family and were always welcome at meal time, fun time and anytime. She enjoyed the summertime fun of swimming and picnics. She also shared her talents of art and sewing with her church and as a community leader in the 4-H club at Tom Public School. Back in the mid sixties she constructed a Smoky-the-Bear costume for the Tom 4-H club to participate in the County Share-the Fun talent event. The skit won a champion ribbon and educated young people on how to “Prevent Forest Fires”. We have many, many sweet and precious memories of our mother of how she loved and shared her life with children. Aurelia was a dedicated and devout Christian all the days of her life. She volunteered her time, teaching arts and crafts at bible schools, served as a counselor for summertime church camps and taught many children’s bible classes throughout her lifetime. She was a 61 year member of the Haworth Order of Eastern Star, which was also important to her by serving her fellow man. She was an avid reader and had a library of her favorite movies. She dedicated many hours and hours of artwork to the Trinity Baptist Church during her twenty year membership. She was preceded in death by her parents Lena and Andrew Fuller, her sister Oleta Vaughn and five brothers: Henry, Eugene, Sherell, Cortez and Cleatus Fuller. Aurelia is survived by her five children, Joy Wilks and Andy of Oklahoma City, Andrea Mitchell and Pat of Idabel, Randy Doan and Donna of Jonesville, TX, Anthony Doan of Enid, and Malacha Doan of Oklahoma City; her eleven grand children, Christopher Thomas of Wichita Falls, TX, Deidre McDaniel and Nathan of Poteau, Andrea Thomas of Nivarre, FL., Macy Mitchell of Ok.
