Obituary of Rusty Farley

State Representative Rusty Farley, age 57 of the Redland Community, OK passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at Paris, TX. Rusty was born on September 25, 1953 in the Redland Community, the son of Elmer and Estelle McCoy Farley. He attended the Haworth Public Schools and graduated Haworth High School in 1971 Rusty married Alison Snyder on June 10, 1977 in Idabel. Rusty was elected to the Oklahoma State House of Representatives in 2010. He was a longtime member of the Haworth School Board. Rusty an accomplished baseball and softball player himself was a strong supporter of youth athletics. He also had a passion for the Redland Cemetery, which he helped take care of for many years. Rusty was a member of the Idabel Kiwanis Club and one of the driving forces behind McCurtain County’s Relay for Life Cancer Fundraiser. He was a longtime member of the Redland Methodist Church where he served as youth director for several years. Rusty also was involved in several missionary trips with the Methodist Church. Along with his representative duties Rusty continued to manage BEMAC Plumbing Supply where he had worked for 26 years. Rusty was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and was a lifetime resident of the Redland Community. He loved spending time with his family especially his 3 granddaughters. Rusty was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Heath Farley. Rusty leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Alison Farley; daughters, Bethany Farley and Stephanie Farley; a son, Alan Farley; his granddaughters, Kyleigh Farley, Chloe Farley and Cambrie Farley all of the Redland Community; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Debbie Farley of Idabel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Larry Porton of Wheeler, TX and Kathy and Joe Whala of the Redland Community; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Eleanor Snyder of Wenatchee, WA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tracy and Fred Walder of San Francisco, CA, Kim and Mike Robison of Valliant, OK and Shelley Snyder of Gilson, IL; nieces and nephews, Jason Porton, Christi Hatley, Daniel Whala, MacKenzie Farley, Larissa Walder, Brianne Johnson, Drew Robison and Cameron Robison; two great-nieces and two great-nephews; several aunts, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Haworth School Auditorium with Rev. David Mercer and Victor Balagbagan officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society /McCurtain County Relay for Life, 4110 S. 100th East Ave. Ste. 101, Tulsa, OK 74146, Make sure to note McCurtain County.
