Obituary of JoAnn Currence

JoAnn Currence, 67, of Idabel, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Dallas, Texas. She was born October 12, 1939 in Ft. Towson. She married Jerry Currence on December 22, 1959 in Ft. Towson. JoAnn was a 1960 graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. JoAnn devoted her life to teaching children. She had taught English in the Idabel Public School System for over 30 years. JoAnn enjoyed traveling and reading. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Idabel, Oklahoma Retired Teacher’s Association, and was a lifetime resident of this area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Hopson and Verlie Roberts; and a sister, Carolyn Sue Noble. JoAnn leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Jerry Currence of Idabel; son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Laurie Currence of Granbury, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Mande Sue and Clint Marcum of Durant; grandchildren, Taylor Marcum of Durant, Chelsea Currence of Kansas City, Missouri, Austin Williams and Emily Williams both of Granbury, Texas; sister and brothers-in-law, Patricia Ann and Jack Gorczyca of Harrah, Oklahoma, and Jack Noble of Sherman, Texas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
