Obituary of J.B. Johnson

J.B. Johnson, 77 of Idabel, passed away on June 22, 2010 at Idabel. He was born April 17, 1933 in Eagletown the son of Jim B. and Katie Hadley Johnson. He married Retha Brown in Idabel on March 1, 1972. J.B. along with his brother owned and operated Johnson Bro’s Meat Processing for over 25 years. For the last 15 years he worked in maintenance at what is now Southeastern Oklahoma State University McCurtain County Campus. JB loved his job and the people he worked with were like a second family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his cows. J.B. was also very talented at woodworking and could make anything. He was affiliated with the Baptist faith and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. J.B. was devoted to his family and was a loving husband, father grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents. J.B. leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Retha Johnson of Idabel; son and daughter-in-law, Dickie and Amber Johnson of Idabel; daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Gregory Smith and Sharon and Duane Birdsong all of Idabel; grandchildren, Kyle and Jacque Batson, Shawn and Kerri Clampet, Clay and Shelly Hattabaugh, Lindsay Longacre, Cole and Rachel Hattabaugh and Kodie Johnson; brother, Billy Wayne Johnson and Johnette of Idabel; sisters, Pauline Ward Taylor and Joe of Tom and Jane Dingess of Idabel; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
