Obituary of Sonda Farmer

Sonda Farmer, 61, of Idabel went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at her residence. She was born on May 24, 1948 in Odessa, TX, the daughter of Dewey Dempsey (Jack) Thomas and Rosemary Ryan Thomas. Sonda married Austin Farmer in Haworth on February 16, 1979. She worked as a medical transcriptionist at McCurtain Memorial Hospital for several years. Sonda was a member of the Trinity Baptist church and had lived in McCurtain County for over 30 years coming from Andrews, TX. Sonda was truly the Matriarch of her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Sonda was an accomplished homemaker, she loved to cook, quilt and work in her yard. She enjoyed camping and annual family campouts as well as many other family events. Her grandchildren were very important to her and she loved spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Thomas; and a brother-in-law, Tommy Baxter. Sonda leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Austin Farmer of the home; her mother, Rosemary Thomas of Finley, OK; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa “ Missy” Dyer-Gillette and Seb of San Antonio, TX, Amy Dyer-Caraway and Victor of Hugo, OK and Dee Dee Dyer-Townsend and Drake of Brandon, MS; grandchildren Alexa Caraway, McCall Caraway and Andrew Caraway all of Hugo, OK, Evan Townsend and Tate Townsend both of Brandon, MS; step-son, Shad Farmer of Florida; brother, Randy Joe Thomas of Idabel; sister, Susan Baxter of Idabel; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many cherished friends.
