Obituary of Doug Jernigan

Doug Jernigan, 67, of Idabel passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at his home. He was born January 3, 1943 in Pensacola, FL, the son of Maxie Wilton and Annie Beatrice Young Jernigan. He married Sharon Neuwirth on August 4, 1963 at the Holy City of the Wichitas near Lawton, OK. Doug worked as an electrician for Brown and Root for 32 years at the Paper Mill in Valliant. He loved to restore antique cars and was very accomplished at it. He enjoyed camping and had lived in Idabel for 37 years. Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Edward Jernigan, Joseph Lee Jernigan and Cecil Deral Jernigan; and a sister, Carolyn Jernigan McLean. Doug leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sharon Jernigan of Idabel; sons and daughters-in-law, Dean Gerald Jernigan and Jeannine of Tuscon, AZ, Gene Wilton Jernigan and Deborah of North Richland Hills, TX and Gabe Duane Jernigan of Idabel; grandchildren, Cassandra Jernigan, Brandon Jernigan, JoDon Jernigan,and Micaela Jernigan; great-grandchildren, Elena Vantrese, Alyssa Vantrese and Bellanie Rivera; brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Patti Jernigan of Creola, AL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susie and Kenneth Plumb of Acworth, GA, Sadie Horton of Sharpsburg, GA, Gloria and Lindsey Shaddix of Albany, GA and Caffie and Terry Tabor of Pensacola, FL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
