Obituary of Curtis Ray Coffman

Curtis Ray Coffman, age 34 of Wake Village, TX went to be with his Lord on April 8, 2010 in Houston, TX. at M.D. Anderson Hospital after a hard 4 year battle with cancer. Curtis was a science teacher at TX Middle School in Texarkana, TX. He loved his job with all his heart and especially his students. He was an avid OU sports fan. He loved the field of science and had requested his body be donated to science for help further research. Unfortunately his family could not honor this request because his body would not be accepted for donation due to the extreme chemotherapy treatments he had received. Curtis is being cremated and brought home where his brother Joe Ray can scatter his ashes on a beautiful beach. He always loved being by the water. Curtis was a member of the Moores Lane Baptist Church and loved his God first, life and people. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Coffman; grandparents, Sherman Coffman, Jean Culpepper, Clyde Gragg and Ora Lee Howard Curtis is survived by his mother, Tresa Coffman Turnage and stepfather Larry Turnage of Idabel, OK; a brother, Joe Ray Coffman and wife Brandy of Redland Community, OK; a sister Lacey Burks and husband Ryan of Newcastle, OK; nephews, Tyler Coffman and Tracy Fielder; his sweet Godmother, Sandy Pitt; two special dogs, Abby and Sammy and a pet chicken, Benny; and so many friends we could never mention them all. A celebration of Curtis's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Moores Lane Baptist Church in Texarkana, TX with Pastor Jeff Schreve officiating. A second service will be held that evening at 6:00 p.m. at the Redland Methodist Church in the Redland Community, OK with Bro. Trent Stuart officiating. In lieu of flowers a scholarship fund will be established at his school by his sister Lacey Burks. God bless you all for your love to Curtis.
