Obituary of Harvey Jetton

Harvey Lathenial “Bud” Jetton, age 80, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at his residence in Idabel. He was born on March 8, 1929 in the Pleasant Hill Community of Oklahoma, the son of Harvey A. and Mabel Berkman Jetton. Bud grew up in the Pleasant Hill Community, and was the youngest sibling of 4 brothers and 5 sisters. At the age of 14 he moved west to Brewster, WA. He graduated from Omak High school in 1949 and worked construction until December of 1950 when he entered the United States Marine Corp. Bud served 2 years in the Marines, 13 months of which he spent in Korea during the Korean War. After returning from Korea in 1952 he returned to working construction. On May 14, 1955 he married Dorothy Gene Walker and the couple made their home in Bridgeport, WA. Bud and Dorothy had 2 children, Kevin and Kelli. In May of 1956 Bud went to work for the Army Corp. of Engineers. In 1965 the family moved to Libby, Montana where Bud worked on the Libby Dam. A tragic accident while the family was on vacation in Redmond, WA took his wife, Dorothy on July 13th, 1970. Bud returned to Bridgeport in 1975 and he completed his career there working on the Chief Joseph Dam. He retired from the Corp. of Engineers with 27 years of service and moved back to Oklahoma. Bud later met and married Bobbie Williamson and they made their home in Idabel. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement and he spent it doing the things he loved, traveling, fishing, hunting, gardening and gathering and shelling pecans. He raised a large garden every year and many friends and family benefited from this. Bud was known to his family and friends as the world’s greatest story teller and many good times were spent listening to his stories. Bud was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Jetton; 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and 2 stepsons. Bud is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jetton of Idabel; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Laura Jetton of Spokane, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Jim Alexander of Spokane, WA; stepsons and spouses, Ron and Rhonda Williamson of Ozark, MO, and Tim and Peggy Williamson of Idabel; step-daughters and spouses, Dorothy and Bill Meier of Ozark, MO, and Tracy and Bobby Powell of Idabel; sisters, Naomi Lowrance of Idabel, and Faye Bost of Kennewick, WA; 6 grandsons; 1granddaughter; 1great-granddaughter; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
