Obituary of Willford Tunnell

Willford “W.D.” Tunnell, 65, of the Moon Community passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at his home. He was born September 6, 1937 in Arkinda, Oklahoma, the son of Oscar “Rock” and Lillian Proctor Tunnell. W.D. worked as a firefighter for the State Forestry Department for over 23 years. He owned and operated a saw mill in the Moon Community for many years. W.D was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He was affiliated with the Moon Church of God and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. W.D. loved his family very much and was a devoted father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Shirley Tunnell. W.D. is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Paula Tunnell of Moon; a daughter, Tina Tunnell of Moon; a grandson, Chance Tunnell of Moon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Sally Tunnell and Gerald and Georgie Tunnell all of the America Community, and Jerry Wayne and Debbie Tunnell of Idabel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Louise and James Friend of Bokhoma, and Valvie and Larry Nolte of Ashdown; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
