Obituary of Bill Shankles

Bill Shankles, age 78 of Idabel, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Muskogee. He was born on April 14, 1931 at Idabel, the son of Nelson and Hazel Whittle Shankles. A veteran of the United States Army, Bill entered the service in 1953 serving during the Korean War. He spent his life farming and selling insurance. Bill loved his church. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Devoting his time to children was something that Bill cared deeply for. He was Master of Cub Scout Pack 320. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard, Cecil and “Bit” Shankles; sister, Rebecca Pollard. Bill is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Joyce Shankles of Irving, Texas; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda McGough of Idabel and Phyllis and Scott Setzer of Millerton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
