Obituary of Wallace Floyd

Wallace Floyd, 87, of Idabel, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Idabel. He was born May 31, 1919 at Clarksville, TX, the son of Wallace West and Clara Varley Floyd. On January 13, 1981 he married Ruth Tassey at DeQueen, AR. He was of the Methodist Faith. Wallace was a veteran, enlisting in the United States Navy after graduating high school. He lived most of his lifetime in the area. Wallace never met a stranger. There were many stories shared with family and friends over coffee. He wore many hats in his lifetime. Wallace was most well-known as the local Medical Examiner Investigator. He served the area for 22 years. He cared greatly for the families of McCurtain County, not only serving them, but respecting them. At one time he had owned the local chevy dealership, the local pool hall, he sold insurance and he loved playing dominoes. Wallace was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Ruth Floyd and his parents. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Stephanie Williamson of Idabel, and Vicki and Phil Maxey of Texas; sister, Frances DeBerry of Idabel; grandchildren, Kaylyn and Geoffry Williamson of Idabel, Jim and Kathy Campbell of the Harris Community, Bryan Campbell of Dallas, TX and D.D. Maxey of Dallas, TX; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many, many friends.
