Obituary of Odie Talent

Odie Talent, 89, of the Redland Community, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009 at his residence. He was born January 19, 1920 at Grand Saline, TX, the son of Eugene and Dessie Garrett Talent. He married Barbaradelle Christofferson on August 11, 1942 in Texarkana, AR. Odie was a retired Oil Field Industrial Mechanic and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. Since retiring he worked his ranching operation. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. Odie was a member of the Goodwater Masonic Lodge, was a past Chaplain of the IOOF, and was affiliated with the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerald Talent; sisters, LaMae Harrell and Adell Palmore; and brothers, Boyce Talent and Eugene Talent. Odie is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbaradelle Talent of the Redland Community; a daughter, JoAnn Dillard; sisters and brothers –in-law, Ruby and Homer Collins of DeKalb, Mary and Gerald Tegal of New Boston, Bonnie Gunn of Norman, and Joy Shockley of DeKalb; brothers and sisters-in-law, Reedis and Christine Talent, Earl and Wilma Talent, Joe and Nellie Talent, and Bobby Talent all of New Boston; and John Talent of Winthrop; grandchildren, Barbaradelle and Joshua Levesque of Wichita Falls, TX, Odie and Amy Dillard of Pocola, OK, Teresa Devenport, and Jerri Kirsten; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
