Obituary of Elaine DeVore

Elaine DeVore, 88, of Idabel, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Idabel. She was born March 20, 1921 in Grandfield, OK, the daughter of Lillard and Savannah Jones Webb. She married Art Devore in Chickasha, OK on November 30, 1940. They moved from Norman to Idabel in 1957 and they became lifelong residents. Elaine was a wonderful Christian lady. She was a member of the By-Pass Church of Christ, where she helped with the Vacation Bible School for many years. She along with Davene Warren and other ladies organized and helped cook the funeral dinners held at the church. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Dustin Lance DeVore; and a sister, Anna Mae Fox. Elaine is survived by her husband, Dr. A.E. DeVore of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Brenda DeVore of Mansfield, LA, and Steve and Jan DeVore of Idabel; grandchildren, Melody Burrier and husband, Bobby of Bossier City, La, McKenzie Elaine DeVore, and Lance DeVore both of Idabel; great-grandchildren, Codi Greer, DustiJo Greer, and Hayli Matheny; sisters, Beverly Mellon of Norman, and Pauline Pugh of Arizona; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
