Obituary of Horace Woolsey

Horace H. Woolsey, 75, of Valliant, Oklahoma, and formerly of Irving, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009. He was born December 23, 1933 in Slim, Oklahoma. Army Sgt. Woolsey served his country during the Korean War. He was a member of Felker Free Will Baptist Church in Valliant, serving as a deacon and song leader. He retired from the Irving Fire Department in 1982 after 22 years of service. He was a custom home builder in the DFW Metroplex and also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Melba, in 2008, parents Robert Lee and Lona Mae Smith Woolsey, son Jeff Woolsey, and infant daughter Sherry, brothers Loyse and MO, and sisters Tommie and Golden. Horace is survived by his daughter Pam Buenau and husband John of Hot Springs, Arkansas; son Kerry Woolsey and wife Ann of Euless; brothers Robert Woolsey of Texarkana, Texas, and Bill Woolsey and wife Bertha, of Texarkana, Arkansas; sister Alice Henson of Cleburne; granddaughters Brooke Griffin and Lauren Buenau of Hot Springs, and Kerra and Kendra Woolsey of Euless; great granddaughter Kennedy Jean Woolsey of Euless; several nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.
