Obituary of Betrice Simpson

Maudie Betrice Nichols Simpson, 85, of Idabel, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009 at her residence. She was born January 14, 1923 in Jadie, Oklahoma, the daughter of J.E. and Lucy Jackson Nichols. She married James Simpson in DeQueen, Arkansas on March 3, 1951. She was raised in the Haworth area, and graduated from Haworth High School in 1942 where she was a guard on the basketball team. Betrice and her husband lived many years in Wichita, Kansas, where she worked as a quality control inspector for Beech Aircraft for 36 years. They moved back to Idabel in 1991. She enjoyed fishing, working in her flower garden, and was a member of the Lynn Lane Church of Christ. Betrice was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Jack Nichols, and Ernest Nichols. Betrice is survived by her husband, James Simpson of the home; brothers and sisters-in-law, Troy and Lana Nichols of Idabel, and J.D. and Evelyn Nichols of the Redland Community; a sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Wroyce Starnes of Walnut Creek, California; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Nichols of the Shinewell Community; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
