Obituary of Roy Hunt

Roy Hunt of Ashdown, AR ended his journey here on earth on December 21, 2008, at Texarkana, TX at the age of 88 years, three months, and 10 days. He was born September 11, 1920, in Valliant, OK, son of Earl and Annie Hunt. Roy married Viola “Vi” Ryan on June 5, 1944 in Reno, NV. He served with the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He received seven battle stars, a star for each island where his unit battled. After being injured at Conton Island, he returned to his station in CA until the end of the war. Roy was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was Masonic Blue Lodge member in Texas, where he was a Master Mason. He was a member of the VFW and Paralyzed Veterans of America. Roy was known for his making of beautiful cedar chests. He loved to do all kinds of wood work, and also tenting vegetable and flower gardens. Roy was always there to help others in anyway possible. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Wilma Jean “Jeannie” Hunt on February 22, 2007; brothers, George Hunt, Bill Hunt, Alvin Hunt, and Leonard Hunt. Roy is survived by his wife, Vi Hunt of Ashdown, AR; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Praew Hunt of Thailand; grandchildren, Jason Hunt of Texarkana, Bryan Hunt of Palm Desert, California, Engow Hunt and Stephen Hunt both of Thailand; and a brother, Troy Hunt of Millerton, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
