Obituary of Melvin Vance

Melvin Vance, 80, of Idabel, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Idabel. He was born January 12, 1928 in Paragould, Arkansas, the son of George and Callie Stafford Vance. Melvin was a retired saw mill worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Opal Hopper Vance. Melvin is survived by his son, Benny Vance of Lexington, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Candice Vance of North Carolina; his companion of 18 years, Ona Taylor of Idabel; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Ethel Vance of Eagletown; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
