Obituary of Andrew Black

Andrew “Bud” Black, 96, of Idabel passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at his residence. He was born on January 14, 1912 in Mangum, Oklahoma, the son of M.C. and L.M. Black. Bud owned and operated several businesses in McCurtain County including, Black Bros. Garage, Bud Black Datsun, Bud Black and son Mazda, and Blacks Auto Service. He was an avid deer hunter and did so until the age of 85. Bud was a member of the Assemblies of God and had been a resident of McCurtain County for over 60 years moving here from California. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann Black in March of this year; brothers, Ode Black, Grady Black, Audrey Black, and Howard Black; and a grandson, Michael Duncan. Bud is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Karen Black of Idabel; daughter, Rosa Lee Wood of Idabel; grandchildren, Haley Black of Stillwater, Devin Black of Idabel, Janet Neurenberg of Broken Bow, Diane Short of Broken Bow, Kerry Duncan of Idabel, and Tony Duncan of Broken Bow; a sister Perline Shutt of California; several great-grandchildren, nieces; nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
