Obituary of Edith Overbey

Edith Overbey, 89, of Haworth, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Texarkana. She was born April 30, 1919 in Tellico Plains, TN, the daughter of Washington and Lillie McNabb McBrayer. Edith was raised in the Haworth area. She married John F. Overbey on December 3, 1945 in Idabel. They moved to Midwest City in 1950 and made there home there until 1978 when they moved back to Haworth. Edith was a homemaker, and babysit many kids over the years, and her and John were foster parents to several children as well. She enjoyed crocheting, word search puzzles, and working in her rose gardens. Edith was a member of the Haworth Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and eight brothers and sisters. Edith is survived by her husband, John F. Overbey of Haworth; a son, John M. Overbey of Crossett, Arkansas; daughters and son-in-law, Janice K. and Larry McCall of Macomb, Oklahoma, and Kimberley Overbey of Texarkana; sister, Lillie Hill of Haworth; grandchildren, Blake Overbey, Chad Overbey, and Jacob Overbey all of Crossett, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
