Obituary of Ruth Cox

Ruthie Lee Presley Cox, age 88, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Ashdown, Arkansas. She was born on August 17, 1919 in Daisetta, Texas. Ruth married Webber Lee Cox in 1935. Ruth was widowed in 1962; she became a nurse and worked for several years in Idabel and Visalia, California hospitals. She was named Nurse of the Year while at Visalia Community Hospital. She retired in 1990. Ruth resided in Idabel for approximately 25 years. In 1998 she moved to Foreman, Arkansas to live near her daughter. She was a member of the Episcopal Church in Idabel and visited the Episcopal Church in Foreman, Arkansas with her daughter. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Haworth. She believed in the Lord and lived life to the fullest. Ruth was interested in the welfare of others; she loved cooking, yard work and gardening. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and would have soon been a great-great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Ruthie Beasley Presley; her husband, Webber Lee Cox; a son, Earnest “Sonny” Cox; grandson, Ken Randall Cox; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Anne Kent Cox. Ruth is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Donnie Cox and Dwight and Ruby Cox, all of Haworth; her daughter, Shirley Cox Hawkins of Foreman, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends.
